"A" Litter - Dee x Chip
Total puppies: 7 - 3 black males, 2 chocolate males, 1 black female, 1 chocolate female Dee started looking uncomfortable about 5am (luckily it was a Sunday). Several times during the day she would run into her whelping box and scratch around franticly. Her temperature had never varied from the readings we had made over the prior two weeks, however we calculated this as day 61 so we were ready for puppies at any time. Finally at about 7:30pm she went into hard labor and shortly thereafter presented us with a black male. The next three puppies came at regular intervals of about an hour. Even though I had requested a girl, these were all boys. Then Dee decided to take a break. An hour went by, then two hours, then three hours. I was despairing of getting a girl. Finally, almost 4 hours later she had another puppy. Yep, it was a boy. But she wasn't quite done, and within another hour she presented us with two girls. Whew!
